The Queensland Fair Trade Collective has been keeping busy, as Fair Trade Fortnight 2010 draws closer. Fair Trade Fortnight runs from 1-16 May and the QFTC have something very special planned – something completely new and different! Post-Christmas Market Wrap Up
A huge thanks to all who attended our Christmas markets way back in December! For all those with fond memories, we have uploaded some photos onto our website here and onto our Facebook – become a fan now!
Many thanks to those who purchased raffle tickets. We were able to send over $1000 to the Maoma Health Centre in the Solomon Islands. Go to our website to see how your generous contributions have been used here.
Global Market Day 2010

An initiative of our wonderful friends at the Arana Hills Church of Christ, Global Market Day is about creating an opportunity for people to purchase goods and support projects that empower developing communities in Australia and overseas.
Highlights for the evening include:
• Stalls selling craft, clothing, jewellery and children’s toys
• Incredible food with the GMD Chai Tent, Eritrean cuisine, Spanish tapas, an Aussie BBQ and Fairtrade coffee and hot chocolate available throughout the evening.
• An outdoor documentary screening and cultural painting exhibition
• Kids’ competitions and games – with the chance to win a Brisbane Roar signed soccer ball!
• Live entertainment and music
Come straight from work! The entertainment kicks off at 6.30PM with Bollywood Fun and Fitness.
All stall holder fees from this year’s event will be donated to the Compassion Haiti Relief Fund, to assist those affected by the earthquake tragedy earlier this year.

Fair Trade Fortnight 2010

For Australia and New Zealand’s biggest celebration of all things fair trade, the Queensland Fair Trade Collective is holding something new and different this year, the first “Fair Trade High Tea”. Featuring International Guest Speaker, Mrs Kohinoor Yeasman, CEO of Fair Trade Organisation, Tarango, in Bangladesh, an Ethical Fashion Showcase and more, this is definitely an event not to be missed.
Receive a glass of champagne on arrival and enjoy delicious finger food and Fairtrade tea and coffee at this inspirational afternoon.
The Fair Trade High Tea will be held at the Arts Centre, overlooking the Brisbane River, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School, Ascot on Saturday 8 May 2010, between 2 and 4pm. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased on line by following this link or contact us at qldfairtrade@gmail.com. Numbers are strictly limited so please book early to avoid disappointment!
