Eco Bug Presents Guillermo Vargas

ECOBUG Fair Trade Forum and Taste Sensation:

EcoBug Food Co-operative, University of Queensland.
The Ecobug event was a chance to learn about the people and landscapes involved in fair trade coffee, to listen to guest speakers Guillermo Vargas (Co-ope Santa Elena) and Neil Bowker (FTAANZ), and to try some of the fair trade products available through this new co-operative.

Guillermo’s presentation conveyed with clarity and depth what fair trade means for the lives of people in his co-operative, their children and their environment. He demonstrated how the fair trade price and premium has enabled his co-operative to develop community infrastructure and environmental conservation projects, to improve and diversify their sources of income, to give their children education and widen their choices for their lives.
