Sister Cafe Presents Guillermo Vargas
A cosy event at Sister Cafe in Noosa was the last stop for FTAANZ speaker Guillermo Vargas for 2008. Local supporters turned up to get a taste of fair trade tea or coffee while listening to Guillermo share his experiences of growing coffee in a community-based collective in Costa Rica. Questions and answers followed, and cafe proprietor Haley presented QFTC with a donation for our chosen fundraising cause, the Perketi housing project. Sister Cafe supported our popular Guess The Number of Coffee Beans competition, where patrons exchanged gold coins for the chance to win a hamper – funds were directly contributed to the Indonesian NGO Perketi to help building housing for earthquake-affected artisans.
