The lovely folk over at Etiko have been kind enough to donate fair-trade sports balls for the raffle at our Fair Trade High Tea, and will also have some of their wonderful range on show during the Ethical Fashion Showcase.

Etiko. It means ethical. It means fair trade and sustainable. It means you can buy high
quality footwear, clothing & sporting goods that haven’t been made by children or by
workers who have been exploited and, whenever possible, are made from eco friendly
materials.

Ethical Fashion Designer Spotlight #5: Moselle

The fifth incredible label to get the spotlight is the wonderful Moselle. Remember – all these labels we have shined the spotlight on will be on show during the Fair Trade High Tea in the Ethical Fashion Showcase!

Moselle Clothing was founded by Daniel and Catrina Pennington with the unique purpose of releasing women from slavery. This is accomplished by employing Thai women formerly enslaved or considered “at risk” of being trafficked.

Moselle Clothing works directly with Destiny Rescue, a not-for-profit organisation focusing on rescuing children from sexual slavery, in Chiang Rai, Thailand. At the Destiny Rescue production house the women are trained and employed in a safe environment. They receive above and beyond the average pay, along with other benefits. Moselle Clothing are currently pursuing formal fair trade certification for the production house.

Using contemporary clothing as its vehicle, Moselle Clothing aims to bring steady employment and a better way of life for all Destiny Rescue women. Visit moselleclothing.com for more information

Ethical Fashion Designer Spotlight 3: Sinerji

In the lead up to Fair Trade Fortnight 2010 and our very special Fair Trade High Tea, we will be unveiling the fabulous labels and designers who will be featured in our Ethical Fashion Showcase during the Fair Trade High Tea one by one! Our third designer to get the spotlight is the amazing Sinerji.

Sinerji is an ethically and sustainably produced fashion label. Sinerji pieces are original, stylish and comfortable and are created using beautiful, hand loomed, organic cotton and natural vegetable dyes.

The designers, Alice and Louise, have travelled yearly to Chiang Mai in Thailand, staying for 4-5 weeks, spending time with the cotton growers, women who loom the fabric and the tailors. Over 2 ½ years this has allowed them to form relationships built on trust and so better support the people in their supply chain.
