Maoa Health Centre in the Solomon Islands

It is fantastic to see the results of fundraising efforts by the Qld Fair Trade Collective members and its generous donors. During Fair Trade Fortnight in 2009,  funds were raised by the Qld and Western Australian Fair Trade Collectives to go towards the building of water tanks for the Maoa Health Centre in the Solomon Islands.

Two water tanks have now been built, which will provide clean water for the staff and patients of the Health Centre and the surrounding community.

Below is a letter and photos sent by the head nurse of the Health Centre, Elaine Daufanamae:

From the Clinic Committee,The Nurses and People of Maoa and surrounding Communities to the good People of Western Australia
and Queensland Fair Trade.

We are really Grateful and Thankful for what you have done for us.
The Tanks will always remind us of your generosity . It is our
greatest need for many years now to have enough clean drinking
water for the Health Centre and now you have solved it for us by
donating enough for Two[ 2 ] Tanks.

Two photos of the two tanks were also sent for you to see. We
accept this Donation with all our hearts.

Please just accept our sincere THANKYOU.
