Charity fundraiser stall: Operation Uganda

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Operation Uganda is dedicated to rescuing orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda.

Based in Kampala capital of Uganda, Operation Uganda was founded in 2004 by the Barton family from Brisbane.

Our range includes African jewellery and crafts bought strictly from local markets in Uganda and Kenya. Our most loved items are our paperbead necklaces and bracelets made by groups of widowed, abandoned, and single mothers. These women face huge struggles to provide for their families on their own.

The Empowering Women skill-based course teaches single women the skills needed for producing a product and the management of their own business. We have also created a new course on producing tailored products, which are being added to our range. Once the women have completed the courses, we then become their first customers. This keeps them in income from day 1, at rates above average wages. It is a life-changing opportunity for many of them, and most importantly, it preserves their DIGNITY.

For more information on child sponsoring, joining our Rescue Fund from $10 a month, hosting an African Jewellery Party, staffroom presentations, or if you would like to become a consultant, please contact Angie Kehl at angiekehl@hotmail.com or visit the Operation Uganda website.

You can also meet Operation Uganda at the Fair Trade Christmas Market, 3rd & 4th December.
